Servo motor delivers high torques at both high and low speeds
A servo motor delivers at both high and low rpm high torques. Because the motor can position very precise, the gearbox needs to be precise as well. In this video Eric Megens explains why it is important to use a low backlash gearbox in combination with the servo motor.

Precise positioning of the servo motor
Because the motor can position very precise, the gearbox needs to be precise as well. It needs to be low-backlash to avoid losing accuracy. If you do use a normal gearbox anyway, where the backlash is not mentioned in the specifications, then the following may occur: in dynamic operation, like rapidly varying loads with a normal gearbox, the teeth start to hammer on each other. The driven part hits the opposite tooth at full speed and can plastically deform the surface. Eventually this hammering effect is disastrous for the gears. In addition, the motor cannot follow the desired motion profile, due to the often high inertia of the gearbox and so you reduce the accuracy of your system.
Apex Dynamics’ gearboxes with low backlash
An Apex Dynamics gearbox is always low backlash, has a low mass inertia and can be driven very dynamically. The choice of Apex Dynamics low backlash gearboxes is therefore self-evident in many markets. For example, the machines for medical applications, automation, the food industry and robotics. It is precisely in these markets that Apex Dynamics low-backlash gearboxes make the difference and in this way we contribute a little to the success of companies in these markets.
